Negroni:
*A Tasty Gin
*Sweet Vermouth
*Campari (an Italian Bitters)
*Orange Peel
*Cubed Ice
*Frosted Martini Glass
*Stainless Steel Martini Shaker
The Perfect Negroni consists of Equal Parts Gin, Sweet Vermouth, and Campari, garnished with flamed Orange Peel. The Gin should be of high quality: I recommend Bombay Sapphire or better. If you must use Tanqueray make sure it's Tanqueray No10.
Shake 1.5 oz Gin, 1.5 oz Sweet Vermouth, 1.5 oz Campari very cold in a stainless steel shaker. Strain into a frosted Martini Glass. Flame Orange Peel oils over the Martini, then drop in. Serve and consume.
Flaming the Orange:
You take a nice wide piece of orange peel with not too much pith, and hold it between your thumb and index finger. Light a match in one hand and bend the peel with the fingers of the other hand. It releases some of the orange oil in the peel and makes a lovely *fffsht* and there is a whoosh of fire. Practice a few times with matches or a zippo. Presentation and Aesthetics add a lot of "flare" to any Martini Experience. When I mix a Negroni for someone, I make sure they watch me flame the orange before I drop it in.

Music For This Martini:
The Perfect Music for the Perfect Negroni is an album called "Like Swimming" by Morphine. It's the Jazzy Beatnik-Rock Band's second-to-last album before Mark Sandman died on stage in Italy from a heart attack in 1999.
